Francesca's Business Success Story
Five years on and Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow remains a favourite for one of Wanaka’s big business success stories.
Back in 2012 Francesca and James Voza pooled their resources to build their first ‘Francesca’s Pizza’ food truck. One of the first events they attended was Warbirds Over Wanaka.
Since then the ‘Francesca’s’ empire has grown to now include Francesca’s Italian Kitchen Restaurants in Wanaka and Christchurch and Pizzeria de Francesca in Timaru, a second pizza food truck and the Gin and Raspberry bar on Wanaka’s lakefront.
But the dynamic duo aren’t stopping there. Along with their business partner James Stapley, they are currently in Italy writing a cook book which is due for release later this year. At the same time they are working on three further restaurants in Wanaka, Christchurch and Dunedin which are expected to be open by the end of this year.
Francesca and her husband have been working on the Pizza food truck at the past three Warbirds Over Wanaka airshows and will be there again next Easter. So with all their other business interests why do they still do it?
"I try to work every event on the food truck, either taking orders or making pizzas. This means most weekends in the summer I'm travelling around to events. It's a really fun job and that's why I do it, I get to go to great events and work outside during the summer” says Francesca.
Food and beverage stall operators from around New Zealand come to the airshow to sell their fare. Only a handful of coffee stall sites remain available for the 2018 Airshow.
