Some of Warbirds Over Wanaka's key acts seen in 2010:
Where it all started. In 1988 aviation entrepreneur Tim Wallis presented an airshow and country fair that attracted 14,000 visitors to Wanaka Airport on one day. As the Airshow grew so did its support and now 80,000+ people make the pilgrimage to Wanaka for their weekend of excitement. The Airshow is now a biennial centre piece of Central Otago’s tourist attractions and one of the world’s premier Warbirds Airshows. Read more on our history.
The Trust. In 2006 the Warbirds Over Wanaka Community Trust was established to ensure Sir Tim Wallis’s legacy continues to develop and grow in Wanaka.
“It was my first time at the Airshow and I was blown away by the six hours of non-stop spectacular action! It was truly phenomenal and has to be the best event in New Zealand .....long may it reign!” Kate, Auckland
