Wanaka Airport is situated 10km from Lake Wanaka township on State Highway 6 at Luggate. Wanaka is centrally situated and is easy to reach by road. Other options include coach, air charter or private aircraft.

By Air
International airports are situated at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. Scheduled flights into Queenstown can be arranged through Air New Zealand and Qantas, and into Wanaka with Air New Zealand from cities around New Zealand. From Queenstown to Wanaka your travel can be by car, coach or charter aircraft. Charter flights will operate from several locations around New Zealand.

‘Fly Dakota-NZ’ (also known as the Warbird Dakota) offers a unique opportunity for anyone wanting to attend the Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow in classic comfort and style. The DC-3 will fly Ardmore to Wanaka, onto Queenstown on Thursday April 1st. The return fare (from Ardmore)— including airshow entry on Saturday or Sunday—is $850 per person (including GST). This includes in-flight meals and refreshments. The DC-3 will also stop at Hamilton, Paraparaumu, Omaka or Christchurch should any passengers wish to join the flight there. Seats are available for return travel to/from Wanaka and Queenstown. The DC3 will leave Queenstown from Wanaka mornings of 2nd,
3rd and 4th April, so Queenstown based people can fly for $90 return ($70 one way). Bookings are essential.
During the airshow the DC-3 will conduct scenic flights of around 15 minutes duration for $50 per person. Returning to Ardmore on April 5th, the DC-3 departs Queenstown at 10:00 a.m. stopping in Wanaka to uplift passengers.
