Tickets On Sale July 3
Fans who missed out last year are being urged to get in early when tickets for next Easter’s Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow go on sale this Thursday (July 3rd).
Tickets to the Saturday and Sunday of the 2024 edition of New Zealand’s Premier airshow sold out for the first time in the 36-year history of the event.
Warbirds Over Wanaka General Manager, Ed Taylor, says the huge buzz from 2024 has not let up. “We introduced a ticket wait-list for the first time this year and thousands of fans have signed up.”
“This increased interest is despite us not having confirmed any of our big acts for next year yet. I think that after all these years our audience knows that whatever acts we end up with it will always be an amazing weekend.”
Ed says following the 2024 airshow feedback was that fans wanted more fast jets and more never-before-seen classic Warbirds. They were also keen to see a return of the American Eagles Jet Aerobatic Display Team who were one of the star acts last year.
“We are working hard on our final line up and we’re close to confirming some very exciting acts. And it’s not just the headline acts – it’s all the other amazing aircraft and aviators and our exhibitors and pyrotechnic team that help make our airshow such a world-class event,” says Ed.
Ed says the management team has also listened to other feedback and will soon be announcing details around additional shade for General Admission patrons and improved traffic management aimed at getting fans into and out of the car parks much quicker.
“We are always working hard to improve our offering. We love that we are now getting people returning who first attended the show when they were young and they’re now bringing their children – making lifetime family memories,” says Ed.
