Heritage Flight Confirmed
The Royal New Zealand Air Force has confirmed its Heritage Flight will be joining its more modern aircraft displaying at Warbirds Over Wanaka next Easter.
The Air Force Heritage Flight of New Zealand will be represented at Wanaka by the Supermarine Spitfire, P-51 Mustang and Grumman Avenger – all with strong connections to our early air force.
The Heritage Flight is a joint initiative between the RNZAF and the Biggin Hill Trust with the aircraft housed at Ohakea Air Base.
Flight Commander Squadron Leader Sean Perrett says the team is very much looking forward to once again being part of New Zealand’s Premier Airshow.
“It’s always great to have the Heritage Flight aircraft displaying at the same event as the newer air force aircraft. It’s a chance for us to honour the crews who first flew these types back in WWII and to show the pride and respect we have for the early aircraft.”
Squadron Leader Perrett will fly the Mustang while Squadron Leader Stuart Anderson will pilot the Spitfire and Squadron Leader Michael Williams will fly the Avenger.
